Maternal Mental Health

Pregnancy is a particularly complicated time. How patients are “feeling” has many dimensions, mental as well as physical. For women and families who require mental health support – during or after a pregnancy – Community Children’s staffs a specialist trained in perinatal mood and anxiety disorders. Outpatient psychotherapy is provided to address a variety of mental health issues, including loss and bereavement support, with trained clinical social workers and psychiatric referrals available as needed.

As part of our ongoing commitment to education, Community Children’s trains staff members on perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, screening tools and resources. For pregnant and postpartum women and family members we offer a free support group that continues through the first year after childbirth.
