Neonatal Therapies and Developmental Care

Neonatal therapists attend to all infants admitted to the NICU — facilitating proper feeding skills, assisting with age-appropriate exposure to stimulation, addressing feeding difficulties, educating families / caregivers, preventing and addressing positional asymmetries, and preparing for the transition to typical term development.

Parents are considered an integral part of their baby’s care team and are encouraged to participate in care times whenever possible. They are also encouraged to hold their baby skin-to-skin (kangaroo care) whenever their baby is stable enough to do so.
