NICU Developmental Follow-up Clinic

Infants identified to be at high risk for development delays are referred to the NICU Developmental Follow-up Clinic for treatment after they’re discharged. The clinic conducts a Bayley Scales of Infant and Toddler Development assessment to identify any developmental delays/differences. Babies at 6, 12, 18 and 30 months of age are screened for physical growth, communication, motor development and cognitive skills. Every effort is made to support optimal overall physiology, improve developmental and neurological-physical outcomes, and provide psychosocial support for families.

Our follow-up clinic, held twice a month at the Child Development Center in Missoula, is staffed by a board-certified developmental-behavioral pediatrician and neonatologist, a neonatal nurse coordinator, a pediatric physical therapist and pediatric speech-language pathologist.
