Palliative Care For our children who have a terminal condition, we offer a pediatric palliative care provider to help develop a plan with families to ensure compassionate care in the face of the most difficult life challenge that may confront a family. Our palliative care team assures families and children that the plan of care is focused on the most important goals for the child with a terminal illness or condition. Often a palliative care approach can be helpful for children with genetic disorders, neurologic disorders, chronic heart and lung conditions, and cancers — focusing on providing relief from the symptoms, pain and stress of these serious illnesses. Our palliative care physician works with each patient and family to set realistic goals and a program of care to improve the child’s quality of life.
