Pediatric Pulmonology A pediatric pulmonologist evaluates, treats, and monitors children with breathing problems including asthma, chronic cough, shortness of breath, recurrent respiratory infections, and chronic lung disease of prematurity. Care is also provided to patients with tracheostomies and home ventilation. Nurses with special training in asthma education are a key part of the pediatric pulmonary team.
